hey all, husband here. wife is very reluctant to make a drastic move for a variety of reasons:

1. family is in NY
2. she has a tenured elementary teaching job here
3. we are planning on having kids soon

as you can see the chips are stacked WELL against me - that said, i am curious if anyone has made a similar move and may have some advice and lists of PROS to put into my column.

at the end of the day, it's highly doubtful it will happen but a man can dream!

How many of these do you have to post?

I suggest you spend less time on CD and more time with your wife, or your next line of patter will be about "where did it all go wrong?".

Only advice I can think of is to bring here out here in the Summer after the snow has melted and take her up into the mountains to see the scenery.

Walk her around the downtown area, near Union Station, visit a few places.

Let her see the teacher pay scales here, they probably suck compared to NY.

If you're in / around NYC it will be tough to get her out of there. IMO NYC is probably the most civilized place we have in the USA given all the great things there, from great deli to theater to Macy's Parage to the NY Public Library to Museums to all the great food and all the great cultural stuff, shows, medical, financial, etc.

Sounds like you're the one who wants to come to Denver. I think the two of you are in for some good long talks.....best of luck to you both.

This is helpful, thanks.

We’re not in the city but not far.

If I ever hit the PowerBall my goal is a brownstone overlooking Central Park, or something closely resembling that.

But I still won't be a Yankees fan.

Why specifically do you want to move here?

Teacher pay is very low here.

I’ve read it’s better in certain areas out towards Boulder.

Nature, slightly lower COL, weather.

You know that folks can simply click on your name and see this is about the fifth or sixth post you have made about moving with a reluctant wife.

I am beginning to doubt you are even married.

What happened to moving with your reluctant wife to San Diego that you posted today? Or the general reluctant wife post you made a few days ago?
