My wife and I moved from Sacramento to Denver 2 years ago. We do like the area quite a bit (we live in West Parker). Traffic will depend on where you end up living. Children's Hospital is on the far east end of town. If you take E470 (toll road) you can bypass the traffic that you would normally hit on I-25 and I-225 coming from the south metro area. If you look up north (Westminster, Broomfield, etc...) there are some nice areas but traffic is nasty coming from North to downtown and beyond. Most of my coworkers from that area work 6:00-3:00 or something like that to avoid the traffic. As for sushi, I have always heard a lot about Sushi Den but I just found it to be so-so. The best sushi I've found was up north at Sushi Yoshi in Broomfield/Westminster. The one thing I miss about Cali is the restaurants, sushi and mexican. There are some decent spots in the Denver area but nothing has really struck us as really good.

Denver is a very easy city to learn. You won't learn it all overnight. Broadway is the main divider of all north south streets. There are two streets for each letter of the alphabet going eastward from Broadway and one street for each letter of the alphabet for streets going west from Broadway. After it gets to the letter Z, it starts over again from A to Z. You can get additional info by writing to the Chamber of Commerce.

Interesting places:
The Denver Mint ( free tours every day )
City Park
The 16th. Street Mall
Auraria Campus ( three colleges.., CCD, Metro, UCD )
Red Rocks ampitheatre
Buffalo Bill's grave site on Lookout Mountain
lots of hospitals to choose from
The Denver Art Museum
The University of Denver
the Denver Tech Center
Boulder.., mother campus of C. U. boulder
and lots more.

I remember when the town of Parker only had about 600 people in it. That was a long time ago. Sure isn't that way anymore!
