Yay I finally booked a trip out to check out downtown and make a decision! I booked The Hampton Inn and Suites at 1845 Sherman Street. I just wanted to make sure that this is a good location in downtown. Please please please let me know, I can always cancel my reservation and rebook! Thanks!

Default Real Downtown....

Do you want to be in downtown proper. 18th and Sherman is in downtown but not "in" downtown. There is a nice Marriott Courtyard on 16th street. It's where everything is happening.

18th and sherman is right by the cash register building on the fringe of east downtown, more of a dense historic neighborhood. There is not a whole lot of touristy things immediately around it but 17th and the 16th street mall are just a short walk away. If you could I would rebook with a hotel closer to the convention center such as the Hyatt or the residence inn. Try finding one between 14th and 16th

I would like to be "in" downtown, but the Marriott is too expensive. Im looking to spend around $100.

Mika: Where you are staying is just fine. You can nightlife and walk home. Safely. Do not stay at that Ramada. It's hooker central. Or skeezy at best. The one you picked was just built a few years ago. It's nice and clean. We were going to stay there for new years because they were the only ones who didn't jack up rates, probably because they aren't smack downtown. I used to work in the building in the street right before that one, on 18th. I work on 17th now, one block from the 16th St. Mall. So I'd say you are about 3-4 blocks to the Mall (which equals nightlife). No big deal at all. It's a good base and I think that dishing out cash for a Marriott is just dumb. You are looking for clean and simple and a central base to find apts. and stuff, right? This is just perfect.

When are you coming? I'd love to meet you for a quick drink!

I'll be there the weekend of june 7th but just for sat/sun. The point of my trip is one to make sure I want to make the move and I'm happy with choosing Denver, two to show my friend who might possibly move with me, three see if there are simple clean one bedrooms/two bedrooms that i can afford (but dont know what I will be making yet, but I'll base it on what I make now), and four, find out which neighborhoods downtown I want to live in...Capitol Hill possibly?
