Can you charge the toll to a credit card and then dispute it?

This is why I don't drive on toll roads that use electronic tolling. If you give me the choice of stopping at a toll booth to pay cash, I'll do it. Otherwise, I'll find another route.

I was burned too many times in Dallas on the NTTA toll roads, so I've put all electronically tolled roads nationwide on my personal ban list. The amount of time I had to spend fighting them over false charges was 1000x more than the amount of time I saved taking the toll road.

Just today I was thinking about how we've become a surveillance society w/ WAY too many nitpicking laws and rules. It's not just in the US either, the UK is 10 times worse. So seeing this sort of thing makes me think of how all this technology comes w/ a price, and it's a big one.

FWIW, I fully sympathize w/ the op's problems w/ The Man, it's one of the reasons I sold my car many years ago and have gotten around by eBike, Uber and cabs. That put a stop to getting tickets and having to deal w/ city and state bureaucrats. It comes w/ a price too (everything we do does), you have to live in the right place to make a village of it, but the payoff is that I'm still in good shape in my 70's. If I had sat on the back of my lap in a car I'd be as big as a house by now, and be a lot less healthy.

I live near the springs, my wife got an express lane toll from up in Denver a couple months ago. It was for a license plate on a car that was totaled two years ago. At first we thought someone stole the plates and driving around with them. When she called to dispute it, the video clearly showed a different number. Their readers and cameras are definitely wonky.

Good news kinda: no more tolls. I was really wondering as I drove by there six times in November. Oh well they got their money out of me, wonder who else paid them off for small but annoying amounts?
