Looks like we will be moving toward the Denver area. I will be working out of Golden. I'm curious as to what towns to stay away from. We want to purchase a house, but we are just looking to spend up to $100k. We have a toddler, and want to be in a safe area. I don't mind commuting 30 minutes if needed. We like to take our son to parks, zoos and community events.
Thanks for your comments.

When you say "home", I hope you mean condo/townhome. Not much (house-wise) can be found near Golden for that price.

Condos/townhomes can be found in Lakewood, Arvada, and maybe a few in Golden in that range.

Yeah that is what I have noticed. I really don't think a townhome/condo would be an option. If I have to commute a bit further that is fine. But I'd prefer to purchase vs. rent.

So you'd rather drive for an unnecessary extended period of time just to live in a detached dwelling?

Look in W/SW or N Denver, Montbello, North Aurora, maybe older parts of Arvada, Westminter or Lakewood, southern Thornton or Commerce City. Most of these don't exactly meet the common definition of "safe", but hey at least you'll be in a house.

Thanks Dave! It's been soo long since I have lived somewhere I had to share a wall. Not sure if I could get used to that again. But again. Thanks for the input.

No prob.

Hey, the grass is always greener. Sometimes, I wish I was in an apartment again (knock on wood), especially when I see the grass needing to be mowed.

100k house within 30 minutes of Golden.

I don't see that happening.

Nor do I. If you can afford $150K, you might find something in the older parts of Arvada, Wheat Ridge, or Lakewood.

Thanks....I agree about needing to think more in the $150k range. How is Wheat Ridge, Lakewood and Arvada? I think we are going to drive out to those areas this weekend and take a look.
