Does anyone know approximately how long it takes to drive from downtown denver to the mountains?

I know this is sort of a weird question... I currently live on the western slope and am considering moving to Denver. However it is beautiful here, and I don't want to move somewhere where it takes a huge drive just to get to the beautiful spots.

Any help is appreciated.

I lived in Vail for a number of years and it is almost exactly 100 miles and it takes about 2 hours but the front range is much closer. You can do it in 20 minutes I'd guess.

Downtown Denver is about 20 minutes from the foothills in Golden, which does have some beautiful parks. If you want high country, it'll be another 25 minutes. To most continental divide mountain areas, it is roughly an hour.

And yes, that was a weird question.

There are beautiful foothills and mountain spots within a 20 - 30 minute frive of downtown Denver. You could live in Arvada or Golden and be in the city or moutains in no time.

Yeah, just live west of 25 and your drive time will be low.

Dealing with I25 and rush hour around downtown will add time.

I don't live in Denver atm, but from what I've read by others on City-Data, weekend traffic can exacerbate drive times, particularly from downtown or the eastern suburbs.

Littlecrispy, you aren't giving us much info to go on, but it seems like Denver would not be a real good match for you. Why are you considering moving there? Somewhere else nearby Denver might be better for you.
