We are in the process of planning our move to Denver area relocating family and business this summer. Married couple in our 30's with small older dogs and a 5 year old child. We are looking for an upscale neighborhood to view homes in close to Englewood (most likely son's private school) and Littleton (Our most probable business location). We are definitely interested in Cherry Creek, however don't know which other neighborhoods to check out. We like to go to coffee shops, cafes, and restaurants often. I prefer not use the interstate for daily commutes. Where we currently live, it is quiet, safe and has nice maintained homes. We want a similar style. I also "prefer" a newer home less than 10 years old. Our house hunting will start in late April early May...

The good news is you have lots of options in your price range.

I take it from your description that you are looking for a little bit more dense, urban area if you want close shopping, coffee shops/ walkability.

If this is the case, Washington Park should be at the top of the list. You can buy a new build which would be around 3,000 square feet for around 1.3. New builds are all scrapes of existing older homes as this is an established older neighborhood with mature trees and mostly 1930s homes. The public elementary school is awesome. We have the option for private school, but think that the public elementary option is just as good.

If you are looking for more suburban, look at Cherry Hills Village

Englewood and Littleton both cover a lot of geographic ground. From one to the other could be a half an hour commute.

I like Columbine Valley (south Jefferson County), Lowry (Denver), Heritage Hills (Lone Tree), Highlands Ranch...

Brand new is also a possibility in Padera/Southshore in Aurora, Ridgegate/Heritage Hills in Lone Tree, Backcountry in Highlands Ranch, Castle Pines Village in Castle Pines....

Default Know the differences

"We are definitely interested in Cherry Creek"
Cherry Creek neighborhood in the City and County of Denver?
Cherry Creek School District?
Cherry Creek Reservoir?
Cherry Creek, flowing water?

I would guess you have set your mind on the Joshua school. You might take a look at Observatory Park - a nice older, but well established neighborhood in Denver- close to everything and not as overpriced as Washington Park.

What location are you thinking of for the business?

Did a Realtor just call Wash Park overpriced? To me that shows a complete lack of understanding of the Denver market. There is a reason people pay more to live in this neighborhood. If it were in fact overpriced as you say, then it would have corrected itself. This neighborhood has maintained above average values since I can remember. 30+ years.

If you want better information, you'll have to supply more info:

Where is child's private school? There is an Englewood city and Englewood mailing address (miles from the city).

Where in Littleton? There is a Littleton city and a Littleton mailing address (a much larger area than the city)

Minor correction: Columbine Valley is in Arapahoe County

Lone Tree, Highlands Ranch, Castle Pines would require highways to get around.

The SE Aurora locations are a loooooonnnng way from Littleton. These areas are 23+ miles away via the beltway/toll road. Most of Englewood is almost as far.

Yes Joshua school is the most likely choice for us, we will be touring it next week.
