Hmm.. are you sure you aren't thinking of San Pedro?

Torrance, to me, wasn't that bad. The neighborhoods bordering Redondo Beach were fine, although simply sort of blah and boring --- nothing notable about them, really.

I lived in the South Bay and loved it, but to each their own! I would live in the South Bay again if I had to.

IMO Cherry Creek North is the only area that really resembles any West LA hood to some degree . That's the same sentiment I heard from an old college roommate of mine who was just visiting me here from Brentwood. Even though I grew up in Denver/Boulder I too have lived in the City of Angels as well as coastal OC. While more tame and pedestrian by comparison, Cherry Creek shares a few things in common with the more condoized parts of Bev.Hills,Brentwood,Manhattan Beach, and the areas of Newport/ Corona Del Mar where I also lived. CC has Similar bungalows, large modernized townhomes, upscale shopping..and as of April even has a new Houstons like Bev. Hills.Santa Monica.Manhattan Beach ect.LOL The streets are framed by boutique stores, some newer high psf. mixed use venues, spas.places to buy $100 drinking bowls for dogs... you get the idea.. living in the area myself I hear the comparisons from just about every other West LA transplant in the neighborhood; it's almost gotten to be like a broken record mantra to me.

I think Highlands Ranch, Centenial do compare to much of the OC. West Denver is similar to some neighborhoods in East LA except they are much safer here..Denver has a lot of excellent neighborhoods, but like Vegas said earlier they tend to be very different from LA. My personal Favorites are: Bonnie Brae,Wash Park, Platte Park, Governor's Park, Hilltop,Capital Hill, and of course Cherry Creek...Suburban IMO:ken Caryl, TrailMark.. West Meadows(Littleton)..Grant Ranch. Centenial. Saddle Rock Ridge..Castle Rock area, Louisville, Highlands Walk, and Reunion in Highlands Ranch..Good luck.

Default West LA - Culver City - Beverly Hills?

If you're talking about west LA Beverly Hills - Palisades Park type properties you might want to look at the Cherry Creek area. Anywhere from Hilltop to Cherry Hills is a fabulous area. Generally smaller lots, abundance of choices - condos to grand single family homes. Cherry Hills school district is one of the best in the city. Great parks, golf courses, schools, shopping. Lots of Choice.

If you're looking for more open space, a quick commute and Colorado 'quality of life' you might look at Evergreen or Genesee. 45 minutes to downtown denver and LoDo (Lower Downtown Hotspots) but hundreds of acres of open space per capita. Same excellent schools, biking, hiking, quiet communities west of Denver metro area and closer to ski resorts.

I've lived in Denver area since 1970 and prefer Evergreen over anything in Denver. Ignore the 'feet of snow' threat. The weather is always better west of town
