I searched the forum before posting and didn't find any specific like this - only a post about Mexican food with a ton or replies. Since I had the stomach bug this weekend I've been craving some crispy chili rellenos. Where are your favorite anywhere in the Denver area? And if you had to narrow it down to southern metro area, where are your favorite? And why? Looking forward!

I think Los Dos Potrillos at County Line and Holly has crispy rellenos.

Maximus already took my answer -- Los Dos has the BEST crispy rellenos I've found around here.

help me out here, I love the classic relleno's, but are the crispy ones the things that look like egg rolls?

Mike, yes I was wondering the same think. Being a CA native, I've NEVER seen "eggroll" Chili Rellenos until I recently. I ordered what I thought was a Relleno when I was in Denver and received this nasty eggroll looking thing that had something like melted colby and cheddar wrapped, not in corn masa, but something more akin to an eggroll wrapper. I may get flamed for this, but it was disgusting to me.

Rellenos are, IMO, best served in a fluffy egg batter shell stuffed with queso Chihuahua, Oaxaca, or Panela. Leave the eggrolls to the Asian bistro's. If crispy is a must, please at least use masa and please, DO NOT stuff with cheddar or colby or any of the other yellow cheeses.

Oh....my bad for posting a pic of an actual Relleno.

I was totally unaware of the eggroll style Chili Rellenno.

I'm with you 100% on this. Unless I'm at a friends place and they make them this way I won't eat them. Whats the point if its not crispy?

Benny's in Gov Park has them on the menu, though I haven't tried them so I can't vouch for their quality...
