I had my feet checked at the Diabetic management workshop at my local hospital(thanks to the poster who suggested it back this winter). They were fine

last night the little end toe on my right foot was itchy at the spot between where the ball of the toe meets the foot. I put some foot balm on it. i checked it this afternoon and it still itches and a better look showed it to be cracked from irritation

this is in the leg that is bigger than the other leg because i have varicose veins in the leg so the leg, and foot is more swollen than the other one

is there anything i can do to help it heal? generic first aid cream, foot balm? foot spray? I'm tired of spending $$$ to go to the doctor all the time for things that are not emergencies

this isn't the same thing as what they tell us in the clinic about checking your feet for any discoloration and objects that may have penetrated?

can irritation from athlete's foot ever turn into a Diabetic's nightmare?

Any wound on your feet is dangerous. Be it from atheletes foot, a puncture from a sharp rock or toy, a corn, etc...

Last year I had a corn pop out and it seeped. I went to the doctor after two weeks because it wouldn't stop. I ended up driving 20 miles into town (one way) every Thursday from June until January before we got it to heal. Many differnt treatments. Everything thursday they carefully trimmed dead skin around it and then applied medicated patches. Several different kinds as it had to be done in stages.

If that doesn't clean up in 2 weeks, go see your doctor.

My diabetic foot problem was not so serious, just a lot of dry skin especially in the heel and ball areas. I massage a moisturizer (African Shea Butter works best for me!) on my feet about every other day to keep the skin nice and soft.
