Can you stick to the plan for the rest of your life, minus an occasional diet cheat day?

I'm not trying to lose weight as I have maintained a healthy weight almost all my life. However, I am trying to eat healthier and stay fit and lead a healthier lifestyle (I'm a recovering junk food junkie ). I typically eat skinless, baked chicken, salmon or tuna with different healthy sides and drink lots of water and workout regularly.

I do have moments of weakness though so I've allowed myself one cheat day a week. This consists of only one 'cheat' meal for that day. In other words, I would not cheat for breakfast, lunch and dinner. A burger and fries, cheesesteak, a slice (or two) of pizza or a “Brownie a la Cold Stone” is usually my cheat foods of choice. I find that having a cheat day helps me maintain my diet the rest of the week. I don't believe that having a freedom day of sorts will derail my diet/fitness regimen.

I think a cheat MEAL is a better idea....lot less impact on your overall eating patterns and you get back to normal sooner.

I would say have a cheat meal of whatever you are REALLY craving.

Try to limit cheat meals to a maximum of 10% of your total monthly meals>>>>>>> # cheat meals = .1 * total meals per month. So if you eat 90 meals a month, you can have 10% or 9 cheat meals a month....that actually gives you quite a bit of flexibility.
