My doctor took blood test and said my cholesterol levels were high and that I should lower my cholesterol diet and eat low fat foods to help this. The dr also said to exercise and more test will be done soon.
What specific foods should I eat to help this?
What foods should I buy at the grocery store?
What should I be having for breakfast, lunch, dinner?
Working out 6 days a week (three cardio, three weights).
Oatmeal/fiber-rich cereal for breakfast.
Eat lots of leafy green veggies.
Cut back on red meat and fatty foods.
Take a fiber supplement.
Lean white meats.
Drink lots of water.
Here's what worked for me. Read the labels on everything you eat and keep your total consumption of saturated fat grams at 14 grams or less per day. It's easy and lets you eat what you want, just in limited quantities.
For me, I needed to do a variety of things for these old bones. I stayed clear of hydrogenated oils, trans fats.
Made sure my diet included plenty of omega 3 fatty acids. Take a garlic supplement, ground flax seed, green tea. Needed to eat foods rich in carbohydrates(fruits, veggies, whole grains).
Juicing helped alot for me. There's plenty of great veggies that i just won't eat, so i will gather 'em all up, throw 'em in a juicer with some apples, and drink 'em up! Usually a bit yucky(well, not too bad!), but it does the trick. Organic produce only. I also eat oatmeal.
Gotta throw in some good aerobic activity also. Worked(works) for me!!
Cardio 5 times per week.
Weights 3 times.
Low fat Diet with lots of fiber, veggies and fruit.
Oatmeal every morning.
Fish Oil capsules.
Weight and BMI in optimal range.

Oatmeal and apples have soluble fiber which inhibit the absorption of carbs which get converted into cholesterol.
Cut down on foods with carbohydrates and sugar. Grains and processed foods. Wheat Belly Diet by Dr. Davis is a very popular book and diet.
Walk after dinner to raise your metabolic rate and lower your blood sugar.
If nothing works, they'll eventually put you on statins to lower your LDL and/or niacin to raise your HDL.
