I agree with not boarding her. We have a elderly, blind dog and tried to board him about a year ago...it was a disaster. He was dehydrated and totally freaked out when we got him back.
Since then we've done a similar thing as you're talking about. We pen him in our laundry room, with a baby gate and area rug w/ pee pads. He's much happier in his home enviroment and in your case, 3 days isn't really that long. Good luck!
Thank you everyone for your wellwishes. I know she'll be fine, I just would like her to get out of the pen so she can move around. She sleeps more than she's awake, so I just need to learn to relax about it.
I agree that three days is not too long to be confined to a pen. If you think about it, many breeds of outdoor dogs (hunting dogs, mostly) live 24/7 in a kennel that is four by eight.
The one additional thing I would do is leave some clothing that you've worn (not laundered) where she can smell it.
