Just curious...
A while back I bought some clippers that were about $40. But there were a lot of them in the store ranging in price from 25 to well over a hundred.
It doesn't say on the packaging why one is better than the other.
I was wondering what the $150 clippers do that the $25 clippers dont do.

The more expensive clippers are motor driven. Well worth the money.
also quality of parts themselves, and quality of blades.
the $25 clippers from walmart will get HOT in a split second on the blade (cheap blade = more friction) and will dull quickly, ive also noticed if used for more than about 10 mins the body of the clipper (where the motor is) gets HOT. ive burnt my hand a few times on a hot clipper body
i think it realy depends what your doing interms of clipping, if its just something for a 5 second sani trim a less expensive set would probably work..but for body trims of any kind, INVEST...you wont regret it (untill it comes to the cost of replacing the blade but that will be much less frequently than it would be on a cheap set.
i have a wahl arco right now and love it (dont love the $20+ to replace the blade for it) my dream clippers...Oster A-5's
yes GOOD clippers dont get hot on the body itself...you still have to watch the blades but good blades dont get hot as quickly either. takes me about 35-45 minutes to do a full close body clip on my small female and i end up spraying the blade with clipper cool once in that time, but the blade is now 2 years old and ready to be replaced, its finally gone dull.
the Oster A5 is what every vet ive known used for surgical clips ive clips ect...they are amazing but expensive...i wants lol
my arco wasnt the most expensive clipper out there its not considered a "professional" clipper, but its an Upper level semi professional/hobby clipper and i can do a full cocker cut with it on 1 fully charged battery and a couple spritzes of clipper cool on the blade with NO heat in the body/casing at all.
Ill NEVER use a cheap clipper ever again.
IF you only have 1 or 2 dogs you clip yearly or say trim every 6-8 weeks you could uses a cheepo $10 clipper. BUT IF you have a kennel of dogs needing clipped I advise a more expensive pair. Blades can dull long before the motor burns out...so for lots of dog get at least 2 blades 1 can be sharpened while your using the other one LOL
