I'm going crazy with shedding this year. My dog has always been a shedder but my gosh this year is terrible. I feel like I could brush him for hours and there would still be hair coming off him. We moved from a mild climate to New England last fall so maybe that is causing more shedding than normal.

I guess more of a vent than a question, but here's a picture of the little devil.

Your dog is just adorable!!
The change in climate could be the reason for it. Also, if New England had the crazy warm March followed by the more typical April that a lot of the country had, that might have made it worse too. I know one of my dogs is shedding more than usual. I'm blaming it on the back and forth swings in the weather.

Artie's lived in New England all of his life, the last five years with me. He's also always been a shedder, but nothing terrible. This year it was CRAZY! Absolutely insane shedding.

I even posted about it because I was afraid something was amiss; it was the wrong time of the year for him to be shedding like that:
Shedding question

I hope you and I have an easier time of it next year... and the year after... and the year after that...

If the seasons' temperatures normalize -- they were NOT normal this year -- I hope the hair flying will go back to normal too.

I sympathize but am glad I'm not the only one.

My dogs always blow their coats in December, and then again in April or May.

This year, the springtime shed *has* seemed worse. And for some reason Beau does it first, and then Mojo about a month later, so it's spread out. Beau is done, and Mojo is almost done, almost a whole month earlier than last year. The winter was mild and spring came early.

I use the Furminator but it's still been pretty bad. I just do a lot of sweeping, vacuuming and brushing. These are not small dogs. Beau is 180, Mojo is 160.

What a cutie!

That said - I've been waiting years for the shedding to stop...

Oddly enough he seems slightly better tonight. At least when he greeted me at the door his hair didn't fly off of him. Glad (sorta) to hear he's not the only one to have an abnormal amount of shedding this spring. I can usually keep things in check with a quick brushing 4-5 times a week and vacuuming twice a week but I feel like I could vacuum 24/7 and my floor would still somehow be covered.
