I have to mini doxies: Lady Bug is black and tan and a grouchy girl. Cricket is red and spunky. We recently got a german shepard mix from a shelter. Her name is Kandi. It was Loki but Kandi fit better.

Our six y/o Alaskan Malamute's name is Claire.

Her big brother (not blood related) was Bear. Sadly, he was an old boy, and had to cross Rainbow Bridge last October. So, for five wonderful years we had Bear & Claire. Everybody in our neighborhood knew them. They were inseperable.

Now Claire is the sole ruler of the house! While she relishes the role, she misses her big brother much.

All three of our fur people are rescue dogs:

female German Shepherd - Pippa
male border collie - Cody
female Lattle - Rayna (she already had 10 years with this name so we didn't change it)

I'm loving reading all these names and the back stories! Great thread!

We ended up naming our Maltese Lily. I was thinking of the phrase lily white, plus it's easy to say and seemed like a cute name for a little white dog. We frequently call her Silly Lily (or Lily-Belle, Lily-Lou, Lily-Girl...always changing it up.) Gosh, never thought about it before but we're probably confusing the heck out of her!

But before we actually got her, one time we were sitting at an upscale wine bar, and chatting with our bartender about the fact that we were hoping to get a couple of dogs soon (we never did get a second one)
Our bartender suggested that we name our dogs after types of wine. At the time (or should I say wine-induced state of mind), that seemed like a great idea! We liked the names Riesling, Merlot, Zin (Zinfandel). And since we were planning to get a very small dog, we thought Petite Syrah would be cute. But once we got our dog, we found that "Petite Syrah" or even just "Syrah" really didn't roll off the tongue easily! Glad we went with Lily.

My brother has named all of his dogs after Colorado ski slopes: Keystone, Cooper, Breckenridge, Aspen. No Purgatory yet!

Both are rescue dogs. One is Rhett Butler, born in Georgia and sooo handsome. The other is Flash, he runs and runs, then he runs some more.

If that's you, your husky is a freak of nature and looks more like a little white spaniel-x.
