I bet I've spent $100,000 with them over the last 40 years or so. One of the high points is being able to take my dog along. She gets to sniff around and gets petted by other customers.
No more.
Corporate policy is no more dogs except for service animals.
Goodbye Home Depot, Hello Lowes.
What do you think?
I can understand Home Depot policy, since some pets are not trained well, pets have their off days just like we do and might bite someone, etc... Same with unruly children who parents don't keep an eye on em let them go ape and run wild in a place with forklifts running around... I still keep buying from em~
I am willing to bet money that this was a result of a “deep pockets lawsuit” over some dog’s actions. My guess is a person got injured and sued Home Depot, since the dog was in there with their permission. They probably settled and changed their policy as the ink was drying on the check.
My very thought. Or they read about the abuse of service animal privilege on airlines.
No one is saying your dog or the OPs does not behave in a store but there are more ill behaved dogs then well behaved dogs and irresponsible owners in stores or on restaurant patios these days and to allow one dog in usually means any dog must be allowed I mean how can stores really manage such things?
Not gonna like my opinion OP, but dogs don't belong in stores period.
They are pets, not humans.
Am a dog owner, always have been. However there's a place for my dog to accompany me and the store, market etc is not.
As trained and docile you may think your furry friend is, there's always that one chance the possibility of nipping another person or dog for that matter. And don't tell me it won't or doesn't happen, I've seen it happen many times.
I'm sure HD won't miss your business either. Several of us spend plenty yearly to make up for your loss.

All valid concerns and points.
If my shopping $$ made a difference, Sears would still be the place.
I think "Good for Home Depot!"
I also think Emotional Support Animals should be certified, and the owner should have to carry the certificate with them at all times!
I also agree! No reason why animal need to be in stores. At any rate, I like Menards better with Lowes a close second. I hardly ever go to Home Depot!
Lowe's policy is up to store managers, just like Home Depot.

Because that will somehow contradict the first (entirely accurate) statement?
"Dog lover" is a pale understatement for me, but I've never felt the need to take them shopping with me, even for pet food.
