Spent the week down in Temecula CA at a work related convention with a good friend. We go every year as the convention is a different places in CA each year. This year it was at the Pechanga resort and casino. We live over 350 miles apart and this is a chance to get together, have some fun, get CEUS and have the hospitals pick up most of the tab.
Almost did not go this year because of Dazzle's Osteosarcoma and the fact he is on a raw keto diet and a cannabis protocol but then we found an Airbnb that would allow him to come. We had permission to bring Daz, Chaos and Gemma. Gemma is a 7 mo old lab that belongs to Guide Dogs for the Blind and my friend is her puppy raiser. So we spent the week in an adorable cottage in a horse barn on a small ranch.
The dogs got to experience being ranch dogs and being close up to horses. Gemma got to see what boring things humans do when they leave home for the day and she was stellar in her behavior though she spent hours laying quietly under the table and trying to ignore all the people that wanted to pet her. When she has her vest on she is considered to be working so not socializing with people. Big applause to the Casino that had signs all over saying no pet dogs, no emotional support dogs as only true service dogs would be allowed inside.
My friend and I got to watch the vet come and do a pregnancy ultrasound on the mare and see the little heart beat so that was pretty cool and we got to have a fire in the fire pit in the evening and sit around it drinking wine so we had fun too. But now Dazzle can check going to Temecula and being a ranch dog and making friends with a horse off his bucket list as I am certain they were all on it.
He did great and had no trouble going up and down the very steep pitched stairs in the barn that lead to the two bedrooms or walking up the hill to survey "his ranch" and a few of the neighbors too.
There was a large Aussie that lives on the ranch and he came down hill from the main house to try to eat Dazzle's food one evening. Dazzle saw him and ran towards him belting out his hound greeting which I am sure says " Hi want to be friends?" but non hounds do not get it and act afraid and run . Mac the Aussie ran back up hill to his house with Daz behind him still calling out his greeting. Mac stopped at the hill top and Daz stopped at the bottom of the hill and I think it suddenly hit him that Mac was afraid of him so he had run off a dog that outweighed him by quite a bit as this Aussie was BIG thus he did a funny little noise as if saying" "Unless you want trouble don't you come back as I am a tough dog"
Then he trotted back to the fire all proud of himself. Dazzle got to be off leash unless around the horses as he stayed around the barn and ignored all the bunnies that ran past so he made a great ranch dog. Chaos was leashed unless I was playing with her as she can not resist chasing bunnies!
I am so happy we did this as Dazzle enjoyed it so much and when he got his diagnosis that was the thing I wanted to give him for however long he survives this cancer, fun filled days.
Three new ranch dogs for the week, Gemma, Dazzle and Chaos.

Dazzle and Chaos waiting for me to take them to say Good morning to the horses.
"Do you think she is really pregnant?" Meeting the Mare.
Meeting Sparkey
Chaos and Sparkey. Chaos would lick Sparkey and he did not like that too much so would turn his head away from her. She also would do play bows in front of him and he seemed to get that as it would send him running around his corral kicking his feet up or if the Doodles at the neighbor ranch were out standing at the fence watching he would run over there and race the fence with them showing Chaos how he plays with dogs.
Dazzle and his new BFF Sparkey.
Sparkey took a real liking to Dazzle and wanted to sniff him every time we visited him. Do not know if he smelled the cancer or maybe the cannabis Dazzle is on and he was hoping Daz would share his stash with him! What ever it was Daz was by far his favorite. Gemma was afraid of the horses so kept a distance and we never got her closer.
Dazzle on top of the world keeping an eye on" his property" and the neighboring small ranches.
Future Guide dog for the Blind, Beautiful Gemma.

Who says Ranch dogs can not be both elegant and Handsome?
After a hard day of work on the ranch a nap in the shade of the barn sure feels great...oh who are we kidding a nap anytime feels great!
Green acres is the place to be, Farm living is the life for me... Green acres we'll be back! Y'all come back now hear!
Choosing a hospice approach to Cancer and enjoying the days sure beats spending time at the vets to buy time with lots of medical intervention . Dazzle is happy, painfree and still enjoying life.
