So, we put our dog in her favorite doggie daycare about 3 weeks ago and when we came to pick her up, the daycare director said her ear had been "nipped" by a smaller dog. We checked it out and the director had glued it back. The next day, it was time for Alex's check up so we had the vet check it out. She said the ear was healing fine. Today, when my boyfriend was rubbing Alex's head, he realized the tip of the ear felt funny. The end of it is missing (the part where it was bit and then glued!). I'm assuming it died and fell off but how fricking weird is that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How big a piece? How in the world could they think that glue would heal it? Must not have been bleeding. I would not go back to that doggie day care!

I'm so frustrated with them! We've been going 2 years without incident to this daycare (if you say the name of it, she runs to the door and freaks out in excitement). I can't believe the vet said it was fine!

A situation like that renders vet care not from a director, unless of course he/she is a vet. Ears bleed like stuck pigs.

We didn't know this happened until we picked her up a few days later (they didn't call us, which is unlike them actually). We then took her to the vet who said it was fine. I am annoyed, definitely.

That's my feeling as well. Isn't that the standard at boarding facilities? I haven't boarded my dogs in a while, but I know I had to sign a release for vet care if something happened.

So sorry that happened, Jessiegirl . The good news is there's no infection and the ear has healed. I think I'd find a different boarding facility though.

Yes, it is the standard at any reputable facility. For those unaware I work at a boarding facility here and have been there since 2002, prior to that I was working with them when I was on the Board of Directors of a local humane society.

Granted it's our practice that if something minor occurs we don't disturb the pets' owners while they are on vacation, however if it's a case where the vet hopitalizes the pet the owner is then contacted to be in direct communication with the attending vet.

I'm offended at how Jessiegirl's handled her dog's situation!
