What do you pay for your dog to be put under for a dental cleaning? I'm looking at paying $378 and want to make sure I'm not over paying...

Call other vets in your area & see what they charge.

There are NO other vets in my area. I'd like to see if I get any answers to my original question before I make a bunch of phone calls to drive quite a distance with my dog. Thanks for your reply.

Anesthetic dentals depending on where you are located can range from $300.00 to $800.00

I paid around $200 in Ohio back in '05, then we moved to San Diego and the vets there all wanted close to $1000!

I've recently paid an average of $280 in Massachusetts for cleaning and one simple extraction. The increase in energy prices has trickled down to affect overhead in most businesses, and vet's offices aren't exempt, unfortunately. I've paid as much as $360 for cleaning, but the dog in that case was a rescue that was over 8 years old and had probably never had dental care, so a lot of work was required. No extractions were necessary, thank goodness!

How far are you from the vet school at Davis? They might be a little less. Out here we pay less than $200 and that includes the pre-surgical blood work.

With gas prices the way they are, too far. Good idea though. I think I'm going to have to bite the bullet and pay the outrageous amount.

Cost me around $200 to have a tooth removed and his teeth cleaned at our regular vet that is an hour away (the family has been going to him for 30 years thats why I still go also he is cheap and suggests the best things before ever doing surgery). If I would of gone to a vet closer (that I use in emergencies) to me they would of probably charged me around $400. So it all depends on the vet.

Just had my oldest Goldens done last week. It was $85.77 for the tooth scaling/polishing and $101.19 for the anesthesia-inhalant.
