We have discovered that our 11 year old Golden Retriever is a "rescue" dog -- he likes to rescue things from the water! My daughter takes him to the lake, she will float in the water with a life jacket on, and he will pull her back in to shore!

Now we have a kiddie pool outside, and he LOVES to rescue things thrown in the water! He will stick his entire head into the water to grab whatever needs "saving"!

This is Dexter saving the hose nozzle

And here is Dexter rescuing "Big Mean Kitty" -- what a Hero!

We have Dirty Rotten kKtty, too! However, Big Mean Kitty is Dexter's favorite. When he was younger, he got a new one every Christmas, and soon "Big Mean Kitty" was tailless, earless, then limbless. Now that he is older, they last a lot longer -- they just get dirtier -- so he doesn't always get a new one at Christmas.

Aren't Goldens the best?! Our two do the exact same thing. Neither my daughter or I are allowed to swim...My boy Dylan will jump in and rescue us! He gets very upset if we are both in at the same time! He will grab your arm... and very gently and bring you to the side.
We can throw anything heavy that will sink and he will dive down in the shallow end of our pool to get it! I will have to video tape it next time.
Dexter is gorgeous...and I love his name!

Thank you, Shelby!

I forgot to mention that Dexter is sporting his "summer" haircut. My daughter likes to give him "special" cuts in the summer (since he gets so hot). This summer he is a "Lion."

Adorable! I love the name too! The Golden's love water! A few weeks ago I was washing my car and the hose nozzle was broken, just running water from the hose. I sat the hose down on top of a large flower pot and guess where Sandy parks herself? Right under the running hose The Retrievers will retrieve anything thrown. Thanks for sharing your photos with us.
