My dog janet is peeing on herself and wondering if this is a kidney problem? Could this be from nerves also because she is a very nerves dog.

Thanks, John

Some dogs urinate when showing submission to a higher ranking pack member, appropriately called submissive urination. I have had two dogs with this issue. Both were new, young dogs to our household. After they were here awhile and comfortable with us, they stopped doing this. If Janet is a long time pet and this is a new issue, a visit to the vet is needed.
Would you share the circumstances when she does this, John? Is this a new dog, young, old?

John - IIRC, you've had Janet for quite awhile. If this is new behavior I would certainly take her to a vet. Could be a kidney infection.

The dog is 8 years old and we moved to a new place 4 months ago. This new place is alot smaller then her 3/4 acre yard she once had. This new place does have another dog that keeps her company all day. Janet has been spayed.

Thanks, John

I think she needs a vet visit to rule out any organic cause, such as UTI (urinary tract infection) or dementia (if she is a big dog, 8 is old for some breeds), or another illness.

And one more... if for nothing else but your and Janet's peace of mind. It's a couple of bucks well spent no matter how you look at it.
