Funny how living in San Diego has ruined me. When I lived on the East Coast, I'd be excited for 50s this time of year. My mom was just telling me that it was in the 50s yesterday and how warm it is. She then asked for my weather. I told her it's freezing here, only supposed to get up to 67. She thought I was crazy, but I can't stand anything below 70 these days!
ACTUALLY..... after my mom passed, it was my plan to sell everything here and be permanently back in south texas by my 50th bday ...... weeeeellllllll .... that is in about 2 months..... damn this recession and housing crash...... have moved my goal back to my 55th bday now......
bailey won't be happy.... she LOVES the chilly and cold weather.... but she is outnumbered by me, the kitties and dave.......
And the sad part is, adoption fees are generally under $200, and under $100 in many cases, especially in city shelters. Maybe you misunderstood...maybe it's one of those stupid designer breeds she is BUYING. Those cost thousands. Many people that buy from pet stores call it adopting, not buying...they have their terms confused.
They can adopt/buy whatever dog they want--my issue is with the fact that they are having to finance it! That's REALLY sad, considering Beesley's adoption fee ($125) was only a FRACTION of the total I spent on him when I first got him. If you can't afford to "buy" a dog, how are you going to pay for emergency vet visits, good quality food, countless toys, treats, and grooming?

I understand that, but what I was saying was that maybe it's not a $200 fee that they can't afford. Maybe the dog they are thinking about is $2500 and at a pet store. Many people can't afford that all in one shot, so they need fiancial help. Stupid, I know! Either way, if you can't afford the cost of the pet, don't get one. Food for my boys costs close to $100/month!
There are a min pin and a small white dog (slightly more stocky than the min pin) that live down the street. They think they are tough guys. I walk down the street and they come at me barking and growling, although they don't get very close. The min pin started kicking up dirt.
