Treated Brody (French Mastiff) with Freedom 45 about a week ago, and he's been scratching like crazy since then - he's got an obvious skin rash all over. Is there a way to neutralize a flea and tick treatment, or do we have to let it wear off?
The vet's got him on Benadryl on 4 days, but it's not letting up after 2...
Oh poor baby. That must be so uncomfortable for him. When we got my dog she had a severe mite infestation and could not stop scratching, so I know what you're going through. The Benadryl only helped a little. We had to wait for the mite meds to take care of the problem.
Sorry, I'm not much help. There is another antihistamine type of medication that my vet recommended, but I can't remember which one it was. Hmm...
I would try calling the vet again and ask what other antihistamine you can give him.

Thanks for the sympathy...
Edit: My wife's reminding me that we bought his bag of dog food at the same time as the treatment, and that was about three weeks ago - the treatment is only supposed to give a month's protection, so perhaps we're already past the halfway point - I pray so.
He's not scratching as much (relative term) with the Benadryl, but he's obviously agitated.
Also be sure to wash his bedding or rugs where he may have lain with the permethrin on him. He might be re-exposing himself.
