I assume during a run today my dog cracked and broke one of his front dew claws. Since he doesn't put pressure on it when he walks one can't really notice it. I only noticed when I tried to wipe his paws down he started yelping.

Anything in particular that I need to do about this or will it just heal on its own? It might be cracked down to the pad.

You could cut it off so it wont be hanging. That way he wont keep bumping it.

I would probably soak it (use a plastic mug) 3-4x a day as long as he tolerates it (would give him a treat as he'll probably tolerate it more), would be concerned that it could get infected and might take him to the vet. Hopefully he'll be OK and it will heal fast.

It looked worse this morning so I called, then took him to the vet. They said it should heal on its own and gave us 5 days of anti-inflammatories and antibiotics.

Glad he'll be fine. Something similar happened to one of mine, understandably the groomer didnt want to clip it b/c she thought it might bleed - the vet did and she was fine, thankfully (it must have coagulated overnite, I was afraid to clip it myself and she wasnt thrilled w/ anyone poking at it but overnite seemed more relaxed) and all was fine.
