How are blue collar workers faring in your part of the USA?I live in Midland/Odessa in the Permian Basin of Texas.People who have never went to college are making 6 figures working in the oilfield. However, this could all change fast if there was a bust.Do you all know of any other parts of the country where someone with no college and only a high school diploma or GED can make a good living that allows them to be able to afford a house and family?Do you all know of any other areas where the working class can make 6 figures?I dont know how manufacturing is in other states. Also, people can make a good living working in a plant or a refinery in a job that is more stable than being a roughneck. Also, I know skilled tradesmen like HVAC,electrictians, and plumbers/welders can make a good living especially if they own their own business.Sorry for being longwinded.lol.

Much better than your average college student these days majoring in a worthless area of study graduating with no real job prospects and $30K+ in debt.

Most blue collar workers aren't "woke" though. And no W-2 from Starbucks.

Because of the construction boom, here there is a shortage of workers in the trades, and they are starting at about $35/hour for unskilled laborers. Union electricians can make as much as $150,000.

How they are doing, depends on what other skills they have. With the strong economy we have now, I doubt anyone who wants a decent job and is will to work hard is starving. Right here we have an unbelievable now unemployment rate. When we hire a handy man, a home improvement contractor, plumber, etc it is shocking when we write that payment check. Even our gardener is doing pretty well.

Even the guy who mows my yard gave up the 450 yards and 2 crews to get into the home remodeling business.

If you've developed skills in any trade you have more work than you can handle. Wages are rising, construction is booming.

Painters are hard to book. The Handyman crew I use can take a week to get to your repairs.

When I drive somewhere, I sit in gridlock traffic and all I see around me are dump trucks, cement mixers and big crew cab pickups with signs on them. They are bulldozing every last inch of land and building high rises and huge gas stations. If you list a job opening, it will take forever to find anyone to fill it. I haven't seen it like this in decades.

There are huge shortages of workers.there was a job fair at the new Rams Stadium. They need 3,000 workers, plumbers electricians ac etc.
I personally get at least two to three emails and at least a weekly phone call with job offers. Some really insane wage offers. But I like where I work and I don’t want the stress of a lead tech/foreman/project manager position.
