My son took seven AP classes in high school. He scored a 5 on six of the tests and a 4 on the other. He went to an Ivy League college that did not give credit for AP classes. It was not an issue for us. He intended to go four complete years at that school and get the best preparation he could to qualify for medical school. He was accepted at two medical schools and graduated from medical school at the University of Pittsburgh.

He did make one mistake. He was able to test out of his first biology class. As some others have pointed out here, that can be a disadvantage with a class in your major. He realized he was behind the other students even though he had scored a 5 on the AP biology test and took another test that allowed him to skip biology 101. He ended up with the only C he ever received in high school or college.

Apparently your family did mostly understand what AP could and could not do for a student and you had no unrealistic expectations. What's your point? How does it relate to students and AP courses in general?
