BTW--What happened to that guy? Perhaps he found true happiness in the bowels of Alabama...either that, or his "own private Idaho".

Seems crazy how prevalent gangs were in the late 80's early 90's in El Paso. I attended Hanks and it was actually OK for the most part but even there we had some incidents (not sure how the school is these days, I left that side of town and then el paso completely). I do recall this one particular incident between a cholo type of guy and a black guy, the cholo got thrown THROUGH the plate glass window at the front entrance. It was like in cartoons, the perfect circle left on the window. LOL It was a surreal event for me at the time.

I don't have any data to back it up other than low violent crime rates, but the days of gang banging cholos on border cities from San Diego to El Paso to Laredo is down.

"Cholos" don't even exist anymore and haven't for some time

Right. How out of touch does one have to be to think those are a thing? They haven't been a thing since maybe 2005.
