What is everyone thinking?? This is a terrible idea? A bunch of old, cantankerous liver spotted trolls who consume resources, helping to over-populate the city, and drive up the cost of living?? Fortunately, TX doesn't have as many subsidy programs that assist with health care. The old people can stay in Palm Springs, AZ and FL. Especially, since pensions aren't taxed in FL...they can keep them. I don't understand why so many people are hung up with EP being more populated, thus destroying more natural landscape, increasing traffic and polution, and exacerbating the pending problem with water shortages. That's OK, I'll pay the property taxes, oh...and spread the word! EL PASO HAS EXTREMELY HIGH PROPERTY TAXES!

One of the nice things about El Paso is that it has a young vibrant population.

Very true, but retirees have $$$ to spend and insist on certain amenities that can only be good for the entire community.

I'm not really big on growth but it's not the retirees in this town that are doing all the over-populating. If you have to have growth, they at least bring spending money, tend to live quietly but also provide good business to restaurants and all that. Their families and friends come to visit and spend money.

They don't take many of our jobs, they don't fill up our schools with kids that would cost us tons of money. They tend to pay their bills, have retirement money to shop and eat out. They generally don't commit too many crimes.

Incredible comments in a town that is supposed to be ALL accepting. I guess some of you will not protest when you are forced out of EP for age. Let's not forget your relatives and friends. Age 30 should be the cut off for forcing people out of town.

I don't have a problem with kids but a lot of retirees coming in would do El Paso good.
