Really? How so? During a time of the worst economic downfall in American history since the great Depression plus usual shift in congress during a president's first term there should have been a huge GOP victory like during Clinton's presidency. Being angry\ frustrated with the party is power doesn't mean people are becoming Republican. In-fact polls show most Americans are not fond of the GOP. What happened in California, the most populous state, is that as bad as things are, we in no way would vote for someone less intelligent to lead; that would be silly & actually as dumb as Tea baggers.

Republicans made the largest gains in the House since the 1930s (the Great Depression), in other words there was a huge GOP victory and you're too lost to accept it. Between the gains in congress and state elections Republicans are now in a position to control redistricting in many states that will be adding electoral votes while liberal states lose them due to census results.

Unless and until California becomes more business friendly, CA's economy will remain in the toilet.

Disagree actually. Normally I would agree with any other state BUT California.

Southern California has 2 qualities that no other state can match.

1. It is the only state with a natural attraction. Part of this is weather, part of this is the way of life, part of this is the culture of entertainment and Hollywood.

2. The culture stand alone. People move to California because of the Hollywood scene and the entertainment.

A lot of southerners live in California and although they may dislike the politics, like CA for the 2 reasons above.

I disagree but for different reasons. California in the foremost state in the country when it comes to scientific and technical innovation. Stanford, UC-Berkley, Cal Polytech and other schools are incubators of new technology and innovation. Not only that they have the venture capital structure within the state to bring ideas and products to market. My bet is that the advances in alternative energy, and biotechnology will be coming from California.

I think you are both right. People come to California for a variety of reasons, but they come is the point. They keep coming, yes some of the old timers are leaving. We may someday as well, but there will always be an influx. Let's face it, when you say you are from the US when traveling they either immediately think you are an idiot until you say you are from California, or they just assume everything in America is like they see on tv which is mainly representing California.

What accents do you hear on TV programs unless they are set in a specific locale? The generic California one.

I agree they need to cut SMALL BUSINESSES some slack. NOT Large ones for sure, but the small ones need some relief.

Now wait a minute.. You just said while traveling abroad most people have assumptions based on what they see on TV about Americans. Then you claim that same TV shows "generic" California accents and culture.. By your own logic, would that not mean the "idiot" assumption came from watching America being represented by California on TV?

California is bought and sold by the unions. It suffers from decades of control by the Democrat party constantly offering dollar bills on a plate from the state treasury.
They greatly grew state government employment with outrageous over payment and benefits fit for kings.
Lots of great society hand outs and so forth.

Of course none of it is affordable and we are going to collapse.
How do we handle the nearly 700 billion coming in lottery retirement pensions the overpaid government employees have coming?

The state is run like a mad house IMO.

Are you guys smoking crack? There's no way either of you is sooooo ignorant that you actually believe the BS you just posted up there. CA is the only state with natural attraction? LOL, that's quite possibly the funniest thing I've seen posted on this site.
