philly0503,

McCain had NO shot to defeat Pres. Obama in the 08 election. The results were not nearly as close as some would have you believe. Obama pulled in amazing numbers....You do remember the popular vote figure, right?! At any event, Mitt is just as moderate as McCain and therefore he has ZERO appeal to the rightwing nutjobs in the TP and elsewhere on the fringe. Good luck in Nov. because you are going to need it.

He's running on the issues, and a lot of Pubs aren't interested in any issue other than hating Obama.

As the number of "not-Mitt" candidates dwindles, the remainders pick up a larger share of the non-Romney vote. And a lot of the non-Romney vote is the Obamaphobe bunch who want a candidate who'll attack Obama on a personal basis. That's Newt's territory. In SC, he let it fly, calling Obama all kinds of nasty things and making it clear that he hates the president as much as the radical right does.

The result: he's the new frontrunner.

Keep in mind that Newt was leading the polls in Iowa a month ago. It was Romney's ad campaign that derailed him there. Otherwise, Newt would have two primary victories under his very long belt at this point.
SC is so conservative and Newt is good at throwing the red meat to the crazies out there, and couple that with Mitt's lack of appeal to the base, it's no wonder he took a beating. Mitt is the guy you think you might end up having to work with but you much rather have x.y.z and that's the dilemma facing the GOP. They do not want Mitt but smart GOP politicians realized that Obama is not nearly as weak as most would have you believe, therefore, they decided not to enter the race this cycle. I don't blame them. Obama wins easily in the fall so long as turn out is good and once we have a true opponent and we have the chance to define him, we'll get energized. I for one remember life under Bush and it's sickening to think we could possibly return to that era under GOP leadership.

He's the same as Obama. If you see him as positive might as well see Obama positive. Mitt & Obama=healthcare, NDAA, war, more= same plans. Right and Left the same now a days. Guess the vote won't matter much unless you're voting on religious belief. To each their own!

It seems that some people hate the current president so much that they are willing to return to the bush days mitt and the others (except paul) are more than willing to go to war with iran and make the bush tax credits permenant, which makes no sense.
