So you are saying if a person is not very well polished, they cannot be intelligent? Just think about that for a second or two.
It depends on what kind of polish you're looking at. Intelligence itself, brings with it, a kind of polished person, which many may or may not appreciate. But that doesn't speak of the person in question, but of the recipients.

This is definitely not true. My econ professor in grad school, who studied under a nobel prize winner, was the most awkward person I have ever listened to, but he was nothing short of brilliant. Being polished in terms of communication and presentation skills is only one narrow set of intelligence, and is absolutely not the most important in terms of being an effective president.
Romney is a smart and well educated man. That's why he is having a hard time winning the GOP primary. GOP primary voters are morons. They want someone who shares their IQ.
I think he's the sterotypical nerd. Brilliant but with no social/people skills whatsoever. He's also pretty much out of touch and has no real understanding of those outside his circles.
He might be a little nerdy or whatever you call it, but he is not out of touch with those outside his 'circle' whatever you think that is. This would be due to his work in his church. He was a bishop in his church for several years which is an unpaid position that is sort of like a lay minister. You are expected to 'serve' others in your congregation. Part of his congregation were Asian refugees and others in the poorest neighborhoods in the Boston area. He actually went to members homes and did repairs or took them things they needed, visited the sick, the bereaved, the very needy. This is a side of him most people don't know, but it was big part of his lfe and he was really very good at it. This is not someone 'out of touch' with people.
I mostly agree. Intellectualism is not a big part of Southern culture. If you speak too clearly or intelligently, many of them will call you a snob, a Yankee, or say "he's different".
I call BS. The south has some of the best universities in the country. The one thing I hate about this time of year is that everyone bases their opinion of the south solely on the Southern, Republican primary electorate.
What is funny is that George W. Bush is portrayed as such a fool compared to his Democratic Rivals. Yet Bush earned better grades than Kerry and the same as Gore -- while Obama refuses to release his grades.
That makes my question why Obama's "Harvard education" is always used to say he is smart, but he has never held a job that used it. Real Ivy League grads are sought after and employed immediately after graduation. Barry wandered the streets as a community agitator.
can't rep u til I spread it around.
