I think it's political. You can't come off as an intellectual if you want the southern vote.
I mostly agree. Intellectualism is not a big part of Southern culture. If you speak too clearly or intelligently, many of them will call you a snob, a Yankee, or say "he's different".
Ivy Leagues are overrated, considering that money can play a significant role.

He's a JD/MBA but he talks and acts like he has knowledge of a HS graduate. Is he doing it to get the dumb vote?

My impression of Romney is that he is very intelligent. I have no doubts about that.
i may not like him, but I certainly think it is unfair to say he isn't very intelligent, he just isn't filled with personality. I also have to smile at your comment about Bush even though I did vote for and support him.
