Why are you talking about carbon dating regarding the age of the Earth? Radiocarbon dating is useless in determining the age of the Earth -- it can only date organic material (ie, something that was once alive) and it can only date to ~60,000 years BP.

The very fact that you associate carbon dating with measuring the age of the Earth says quite a lot...
In this case it had to do with a wide spread geological radioactive influence on carbon dating. Nor was I implying that was how the age of the earth is measured. So please check the ego at the door.

Congress: Living High on the Backs of Taxpayers
If you are posting a questionable blog as proof of Ron Paul's "douche bagness" you should also look at the comment section to see how the commentators have set the author straight.

Paul has never taken a government-paid junket.

Paul has never voted to raise congressional pay.

Paul has never accepted Medicare or Medicaid payments when he was a doctor and instead treated patients for FREE.

Paul (and his son Rand both) returns a portion of their house/senate budget BACK to the US Treasury without blowing it all away. Very few people do this.

Paul has refused Congressional pension.

These are facts and you can look these up.

How harebrained do you have to be to spread these obvious lies and expect people to lap them up?

And you really have to be twisted to try and bash Paul in a thread where he just saved the taxpayers $50,000 a day by not opting for Secret Service protection.

Paul is the only candidate to NOT request Secret Service protection.

The US government sure could use someone that would decrease its size and costs to the taxpayers significantly. He is the only one I have ever heard speak about truly reducing such wild costs we deal with. Good for him to even think in such a manner in this day and age of the massive fear mongering to the people to let government charge us trillions for our so-called protection. The spending and all these new taxes need to change. I am tired of the fear preachers getting their way and the US throwing around billions and billions each year to other countries. We need to take care of ourselves AND rebuild our deteriorating infrastructure. Anyway, here is the tiny article that again proves he is no doubt one of a kind. Wish more would talk about less spending and less fear.

Ron Paul calls Secret Service protection a
MISLEADING. He says HIS secret service protection would be a form of welfare not ALL secret service protection.

I believe it is pretty well understood than Ron Paul is a young earth creationist type, but as CDUsr pointed out it is a red herring, his policies certainly don't seem to indicate he'd try to force that down anyone's throat.

Otherwise, well, I'll let you figure that one out.

Actually, you cant OPT out of SS thou for decades he wished many people could opt out and stop paying into the system!

Thou he does opt out of the penison fund and brings his own lunch to work and it is not paid for by the government. Anywhere he can opt out and not accept government protection he does. AS far as secret service protection I think what Ron Paul was saying is citizens can pay for their own protection and even if it comes from the campaign funds he raises! Even as a DR he didnt let people pay with medicare or other government programs and either DID the job for free or came up with a different solution.

If you going to say something have some FACTS!

Just to set this "religious" red herring tangent straight.

Paul has been married to Carol Wells since 1957.[187] They met in 1952 when Wells asked Paul to be her escort to her 16th birthday party.[188] They have five children, who were baptized Episcopalian:[7] Ronald, Lori, Randal, Robert, and Joy. Paul's son Randal is the junior United States senator from the state of Kentucky. Raised a Lutheran, Paul later became a Baptist.

Getting back to not using the secret service to protect him is a mistake on his part. Unless he wants to become a martyr. No voice in this country should be ended by a nut with a gun. Dr. Paul should be protected by the best we have, as any one that is running for the Presidency.

I agree Paul is in it for himself, that and a few billion other people.
What benefits is he not taking? Are you sure of this? As for his not taking SService protection, he certainly is to be commended for that. I have never understood offering this to candidates? Do I critizine those who accept it? No, it is offered and some feel the need. I do think he beleives in most of what he preaches, but I don't think that makes him right and no, there are not a few billion people he cares about. Of course I am sure you posted that, tongue in cheek, right?:think Natural510 said it best: he carries things too far.

sorry, serving a required military committment is not the same as a military carreer. He did serve and for that I give him credit, but a military carreer is for those men and women who retire from the military, either as active or reservist.

Huh? That makes absolutely no sense at all. How do you imagine that radioactivity in geologic strata is somehow linked to the measurement of the ratio of C-14 to C-12/C-13 in inert organic matter?

You obviously haven't the foggiest idea what you're talking about.

Again, carbon-dating has nothing -- absolutely nothing -- to do with measuring the age of the Earth. You're the one who linked them.
