Romney campaign manager Eric Fernstrom was asked this AM on CNN if he thought Romney would have trouble tacking back toward the center for the general election, after trying so hard to appeal to the party's RW. Fernstrom replied, "Well, you hit the reset button for the the general campaaign. It's kind of like an etch-a-sketch. You shake things up and start all over again."

Wow! That has certainly been the book on Romney all along- he's a human Etch-a-sketch when it comes to values, principles, and policies.

Now, we have Romney's campaign manager CONFIRMING those suspicions, in so many words, on national TV yet.

I can see the ads now: "Vote for the human etch-a-sketch"!!!

I think Romney is just fundamentally dishonest and will say whatever he is told to say to get votes. Who knows what you get if you vote for him? The argument to the moderate is "vote for Romney, he is lying about being a social conservative". I don't think it is going to work. Who knows though? He fooled 47% of the Republicans in Illinois yesterday.

They're going to have to do a lot of scrubbing of blogs, news sites and YouTube channels to make his pandering to the far right and his myriad of contradictory positions on so many issues disappear. And then get the Democrats to agree to this "reset." Call me a skeptic, but I don't see that happening. Especially when the campaign ads just write themselves.

What pandering to the right wing has Romney done, though? I thought he was a 'Massachusetts moderate' anyways, according to his rivals?
