This is business not personal: Romney also said in the interview he would like a pledge (of sorts) with Obama that there be no "personal" attack ads. "[O]ur campaign would be — helped immensely if we had an agreement between both campaigns that we were only going to talk about issues and that attacks based upon — business or family or taxes or things of that nature." (Question: Is Romney really saying that scrutinizing his business record — which he has held up as one of his chief qualifications to be president — is personal? But we
digress. ...) He continued: "[W]e only talk about issues. And we can talk about the differences between our positions and our opponent's position." Romney said of his own campaign:
Romney wants his taxes, business record off table - POLITICO.com

Hahaha, so he doesn't want Obama to scrutinize his business record and taxes huh? Poor Romney, that Obama guy is so mean.

He might as well say, "This election should come down to who has the better head of hair", since everything else should be off the table according to Mr. Romney.

Let's see, we can't talk about his business experience, his time with the 2002 Oylimpic, Romneycare, his gun control position as governor or his jobs record as governor. Why does ANYONE want him as president? other than he is not Obama?

LOL, mittens wants it to be about anything but him. Really funny. When is the last time anyone went thru a job interview without discussing a job candidate's qualifications? Scary, is that how mittens ran his businesses?

Or his foreign policy. Or his domestic policy. Or his horse.

I'm a successful businessman! Elect me on the strength of how well I've run my businesses!

But no, you cannot ask me anything about my businesses...

The Ryan pick was about moving the discussion away from Romney's business experience, his taxes and his tenure as governor--the campaign was in a tailspin and they had to do something. It means the attention is going to be focused instead on the Ryan budget plan. It was a risky move by Romney, because there are a whole lot of conservatives who have concerns about keeping full funding for the DOD, even if we're not at war, and in turn cutting SS and medicare. The tea party is thrilled with this pick, but so are the democrats. The rest of us are standing around scratching our heads wondering WTH. At this point, it's safe to say that Romney is completely walking away from his rep of being a more moderate, center right R.

did I misread what he suggested or did he say: family, personal attacks etc for both sides? Has he released 2 years tax returns or not? I happen to agree, let's just hear plans for the future, let's hear what has and has not worked, and let's forget about the rest? If a candidate can not run on his accomplishments and what he will bring to the office, he souldn't be running. rich, poor, black, white, gay, straight, non of this has a damn thing to do with anything.

Considering Romney has publicly stated that he does not care about the middle-class or poor (which covers more than half the countries population), what makes anyone think we can expect any kind of improvement from him?

He waved a paper around and publicly declared that he "PAID HIS 14%" in taxes, was it for 2010? Look at his income level, then check his income (before all the tax shelters). Tax tables are available on the internet. Look it up. He should have been paying nearly 30% for his income bracket. That's why he wants the taxes off the table.
