It was just announced that there are yet another 1200 who will lose their jobs with the closing of 8 more coal mines. Why is that? Because Obama put too many regulations on the coal mining companies and is putting them out of business. By the way, the electric bill will also go way up. And the list goes on and on. If this keeps going who is going to be left to pay the bill for those who do collect government checks?

Too many people are getting government checks? Most 'government checks' are entitlements. Paraphrasing Ronald Reagan, who once said, "I paid for that microphone," those getting Social Security and Medicare paid for that entitlement.

I turn to today's New York Times editorial:

Seniors do pay income tax if their AGI is above a certain level. I would wager most who are homeowners have their property paid off and use the standard deduction. Any retiree with mulitple income streams from investments, pensions, SS,etc. do pay income taxes. I write this as one is a family member and makes as much retired as when employed.
