"There are 47% who are with Obama, who are DEPENDENT upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe the government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it, that’s an entitlement and the government should give it to them. And they will vote for this president no matter what . . . These are people who pay NO income tax. My job is not to worry about those people. I’ll never convince them they should take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY and care for their lives.”

Sooooo TRUE!

Yeah but I'm sure Mitt Romney is a big fan of the Waltons who purposely try to pay their employees so that they fall under the poverty line so that the government can pick up what the Waltons are too stingy to pay for themselves. I mean, they're the most successful, so they must be the best, right?

Plus, I'm sure a good percent of that 47% that pays no income tax, which doesn't include payroll taxes or state income taxes or property tax, are gonna vote for Romney anyway so a good chunk of the other side is for Obama.

You pay your employees according to their job. I would never pay an employee that works the register a lot for the sake that she can not claim welfare. That's silly. If all you are good for is working the register than the problem is you, not the employer.

A big chunk of that 47% is seniors and students. And many of the 47 still pay other taxes like payroll taxes. So yeah be real proud of yourselves for saying that...

The real issue within Romney's comments is simple arithmetic.

Since there is such a huge percentage of high school droputs, and the under educated, perhaps many will not get the simple math.

With 47% of the populace NOT paying taxes, that leaves 53% to support 100% of the tax burden.

Now, those figures were determined BEFORE the Recession. So, with 8% unemployment, that *may* mean there are 8% LESS taxpayers.

Presumably, and for argument's sake, there may now be ONLY 45% of the populace paying 100% of the tax burden of the United States.

Now, let us presume that among the 47% of non tax payers are the 1%, you people love to lay all blame upon. So that leaves 46% of the populace which pays no taxes.

Do you Obamamites have any level of intelligence which justifies this circumstance as SUSTAINABLE?

Moreover is it MORAL? For one half to pay for another half? To what degree? To what level is one obligated to the other?

Romney spoke the Truth, unpleasant as it is.

The nature of Truth is that it ALWAYS hurts!

This is a good article which discredits Romney's implication that those who pay no taxes or benefit from Social Security or other entitlement programs will blindingly vote Democrat. The actual trend is that these groups have increasingly voted Republican in the last elections.

The Right Is Wrong to Pin Obama

By the way, most of the 47% who don't pay income taxes still pay some kinds of taxes, and those who work still contribute to Social Security through payroll taxes. They aren't completely free-loading, and many work very hard or worked very hard when they were able (referring to retired seniors and disabled citizens).
