1. He has increased the welfare state and dependency on the government far more than any other President in recent times. If you didnt work and he gave you free things wouldnt you vote for him? Woud you care what the unemployment rate was?

2. The population is dumber. The hero worship on this guy is like nothing Ive ever seen before. The unemployment rate is higher than when he took office. Sad...

Anyhow, we see that Obama is giving it his best, and that things are complicated. And the thought of going right back to Bushanomics has subzero appeal. Romney's challenge was to articulate a third way, between the failed policies of the past, and the lackluster success of the present. He has not done that. People soundly rejected McCain when it seemed like it would be Bush's third term. The GOPers are so caught up in their hatred of Obama, and so intellectually inbred, they don't realize their brand is right up there with ENRON with the rest of the American people

Most sensible voters know that Obama was simply the recipient of an economy ruined by gross corruption and deregulation. And when he has tried to deal with it, the GOP congress has done everything in its power to NOT lower the unemployment rate. Destroying his presidency was their primary goal. Who would punish the guy who is trying to clean up the mess and reward the perpetrators except a hardcore partisan? Obama will be reelected because the voters are SMARTER than the GOP spin machine thinks they are. We know which end of the horse the hay goes into. And what comes out the other end....

Let's face it, the people now know that Mitt Romney is a god awful presidential candidate. With the American economy still weak, Romney should be way ahead in the polls, he is'nt, he's trailing Obama.

He (Romney) has been an absolute disaster on the campaign trail. The 47% rant was a dagger blow to his chances of getting himself into the oval office.

FDR was re-elected twice (1936 and 1940) when UE was greater than 7.5%.

First, this election isn't a referendum on the New Deal or the Great Society or Medicare, Social Security and Medicaid -- all which have been round for a long time. But if you want it to be, your side will lose because those are all VERY popular programs.

Second, what 'increases in the welfare state and dependency on the government' are you pinning on Obama?
Bush added Medicare Part D. That was $400 billion and all the Republicans voted for it in Congress.

You are right. This election is about the ECONOMY and the economy is terrible. Obama has policies which directly oppose business development, therefore this is expected.

Perhaps one could try-

eliminating Obamacare
cutting corporate taxes- the highest in the world
reducing EPA regulations
stopping the war on coal
allowing oils shale development and offshore drilling
muzzling the trial lawyer's association
corporate consumption tax

Just a few suggestions, given that Obama has failued miserably using the opposite approach. But then again, libs like impoverishing the nation, as it creates more democrats.

Wow are you arrogant! You must be lovely to talk to in real life. When you are able to climb off of your pedastal, you may remember that we have had a president that revived a failing economy that he inherited within 4 years. It is possible. obama has failed us. He knows he doesn't deserve a second term. He said it. He just wants to keep living in the big white house. So, smarty pants, if your special leader said that if he didn't fix the economy in 3 years, he shouldn't be voted in for another 4 years, then how smart are you to still think he deserves another chance. Too bad for obama that yet again he will be inheriting another failed economy. Wonder if he will blame himself this time for the next four years?

A "fact" more closer to the truth is that a majority of Americans have come to be more satisfied with less where the economy is concerned compared to before. They don't expect to live in their dream house or buy a new car every 3-5 years, and they're ecstatic if they can not only pay their bills this month, but have a little bit leftover to save for a vacation sometime next year. Romney & the GOP are selling the idea they can turn things around the way they were during the boom times, without much explanation on how to do it, and apparently the majority aren't buying it.
