Well if history serves us right no president was ever re-elected with the economy as bad as it is on election day. People vote their wallet. I don't think Anericans are so dumb to double down on failure but we will have to wait and see.

At most, it means the possibility of an EC/popular vote split, which most supporters of Obama will welcome readily enough as karmic justice for 2000:

And btw, there's a perfectly good thread right at the top of the page for this kind of poll-driven speculation.

Romney will be even higher next week in the next 7 day.
Todays news will start that off.

Rasmussen has it as a 48-48 tie. I think that is probably closer to the truth than the Gallup number. OMG lib heads explode as they concede that Rasmussen is the sane voice here.

No candidate has ever lost with a favorability rating at 50% or above at this point in a campaign either....and Romney is there.......with Obama trailing.

Obama will carry the Kerry states from 2004 plus Ohio, Nevada, New Mexico, and Iowa. That gets him over 270 for a second term.

Default Bob Beckel on Latest Presidential Polling Numbers: “It’s Over. It’s Over”

He's right.

It's over. It's been over for quite awhile now. But this late Romney bump sure lets all the media corporations make it sound close so they can try to increase their ratings.

Four more years.
