Great post. When I heard President Obama talking about working with Mitt Romney, I think he really meant it.

Clearly you don't have a CLUE what "our side" thinks.

Why would you be happy? What is there to celebrate when the President has the same deadlocked Congress he had before the election? Is there any particular reason you are celebrating this? It's almost as if you EXPECT the President to govern by waiver and executive order instead of through the wishes of the public, who send their representatives to Congress.

It sounds like neither of you actually understand the magnitude of the situation.

You have a lot of explaining to do.

I'm happy because the economy will continue to improve, the UE rate will continue dropping and jobs will continue to be created - in short we will continue to chip away at that huge backlog of uemployed left over from the 2008 collapse.

In regards to the deadlock. That WILL improve. I think much of the reason the GOP was so intractable was because they were holding out in hopes of stalling long enough so that they could wait until Obama "lost" the election before taking any action. That "loss" didn't happen and Obama doesn't have to ever worry about another election. The members of Congress however DO - and Congress' popularity is IN THE TOILET (Obama's is STELLAR compared to theirs). People are disgusted with Congress and tired of it's inactivity so there's going to be increasing pressure of Congress to actually DO something and the leaders of Congress KNOW IT.

This is the best thing that could have happened. Although not everyone that voted for Obama is over 50 there are some. The group that won him the election though range from the under 50 crowd to Hispanics (many of which probably weren't here in the 70's) to proud African Americans.

They'll soon be able to get a first hand account of what out-of-control spending and gigantic government is really like while their wages decline both in real dollars and perceived dollars.

It will be a great learning experience for Americans who completely forgot, don't know or who were fooled by the people that surround them that did know stagflation first hand.

If liberalism was such a grand and "forward" idea liberals wouldn't have lost control of the power and state in the first place...

I love how you tell others they don't understand, when you yourself choose to remain blissfully ignorant of dozens of economic reports showing positive momentum under president Obama.

Educate yourself.

Here's what the President is going to do. When POTUS was on the campaign trail, at every stop he talked about raising the taxes on the rich. He has over a 60% approval rating on this - I would call it a mandate. Last night he talked about going on the road to connect more with citizens. When congress blocks his initiatives, he'll take it to the people and they'll let congress know what they want.

The GOP is in trouble.
“This generation is growing up much more accustomed to diversity than its elders.”

Minorities made up roughly 2.02 million, or 50.4 percent of U.S. births in the 12-month period ending July 2011. That compares with 37 percent in 1990.

In all, 348 of the nation’s 3,143 counties, or 1 in 9, have minority populations across all age groups that total more than 50 percent.

In a sign of future U.S. race and ethnic change, the number of counties reaching the tipping point increases to more than 690, or nearly 1 in 4, when looking only at the under age 5 population.

Here's a story just for you...

Quote:
By now you've heard the warnings about the fiscal cliff —the series of tax increases and automatic spending cuts set to take place in 2013. Most estimates calculate the combined policy changes would lead to a fiscal contraction of $500 billion in 2013...

...According to NAM, these improvements are moot. Their study shows the fiscal cliff will cause a 0.6% loss in GDP growth by the end of this year. Looking forward, if we actually go over the cliff, the burden could plunge the economy into worse conditions than the depths of the Great Recession of 2007 — 2009.

NAM foresees the impact of going over the cliff immediate and long lasting, with a recession starting in early 2013, dramatically slowed growth into 2014, 10% loss in household income, and up to 6 million jobs lost.
Economic Shock From Fiscal Cliff Will Last Over a Decade: U.S. Manufacturers | Breakout - Yahoo! Finance

So? Is the president going to continue on with the Obama tax cuts and put the burden on the next president and make the problems that much more severe or is he going to fly over the cliff waving his flag?

I don't think you folks understand what sort of locomotive is coming your way. It's gigantic in size, it's massive in its density and it's running about 100 mph directly at you and you've got one almost two months to untie yourself from the track and decide how many limbs your going to lose so that you can survive.

And what's he going to do? Form another commission that he will ignore? He's got approximately 1 3/4 months to choose either the fiscal cliff that was agreed to a while back or continue on with the same policies. Raising taxes on the rich isn't going to solve this nation's problems by any real measurable amount.

You should call them racist or something. That'll change the problems you're facing and it'll help unite everyone just as it did for the previous four years.
