The headline should read: "McAuliffe wins. Hate and bigotry lose."

VA is a huge win for the Dems for 2016. Having a Governor from your same party gives you an advantage in the general election. And VA is already a purple state.

Looks like the Attorney General race is going to a recount.

Virginia Board of Elections unofficial results has GOP Candidate Mark Obenshain up by 1169 votes with 100% of precincts reporting.

I am reading that the margin is only 286 votes. And that provisional ballots still need to be counted.

Virginia Board of Elections - Election Night Results - November 5th, 2013

I guess at this point it doesn't matter where your source comes from, but the Virginia Board of Elections currently has the lead for the GOP of ~1,100 votes

Agreed. Not sure how many remaining provisional or absentee ballots remain, but unless it goes heavily to one side or the other this is heading for a recount.

That is to say, regardless, and as has been said many many times throughout electoral history - every vote counts.

Tabulation error found in Prince William, its now Obeenshain by 726. Random tabulation errors pretty much occur in every race so it won't be surprising to see the numbers bounce around a bit more as they recanvass and double and triple check what has been entered.

Provisional ballots and some absentees still need to be counted.
