Obviously not all academics are liberal. Brat is an American economist, he is a Professor of Economics who ran on helping the middle class, against illegal immigration.

Obama is a community organizer first.

Since you brought up president, I hear Hillary is running for president on being a poor broke woman. As for congress I hear that Michelle is running on being black.

I have questioned Obama's ZERO executive experience, before we voted him into the biggest executive position in the world...even as a professor he never had a classroom to manage and assign work and grades to. I have never questioned the fact that Obama was in academics or held being a 'lecturing professor' in and of itself against him. Do you see the difference?

Cantor didn't even drop the fake southern accent in his concession speech.

I'm going to wake up tomorrow and this was all a dream.

Which is sad.

No economist I know of is against legal or illegal immigration. Brat prides himself as a free market economist, yet he opposes the free movement of people. In other words, he's a protectionist.

I don't know much about this guy and do not pay much attention to VA politics, but from what I understand he is more conservative than the Speaker. People label him as "Tea Party" but I'm beginning to think that this is a term the media and people on the left throw around when they don't like someone. After looking at his website, he is not someone I would elect but I must hand it the people of VA for taking a big step in ousting a powerful incumbent.

lol, one guy said.... "incumbents and establishment wasn't paying attention, when grass roots is ticked off, when the people wake up and pay attention they tend to hit politicians with a brick bat and Cantor caught one right across the forehead".

Well when your own people can't find jobs and are struggling financially you certainly don't let more poor people in. Now start using that gray matter between your ears and think about it. Don't just parrot liberal politics.

Liberal politics? This is economics. No economist opposes immigration. In fact, most assert that immigration would double the global GDP.

“This isn’t a personal race. I’m not running against Eric,” he stressed in
the May interview. “I’m just running on the founding principles that Adam Smith
and free markets – they made us the greatest nation on the Earth. All right?
It’s no mystery. Our rights, tradition, along with free markets and the
Judeo-Christian tradition all together made us the greatest nation on the face
of the Earth. I think we’re veering off course a little bit there and I want to
get us back on that course that brought us to greatness.”

Obviously ... that particular Congressional district has shifted to or remains out of step with the rest of the country. All Congressional races are about local issues more than anything else. To my way of thinking, Cantor was a horrible Congressman. Someone who frequently expressed his dislike for Americans and America. I don't think the candidate seeking to replace him will be any better. Time will tell ... if his campaign is successful.
