No fan of Bachmann or Paul, but this guy was a former Senator, meaning he was a private citizen who left one organization to work for another organization that offered him more money. Happens everyday in the business world.
Ron Paul's facade of being the Mr. Smith goes to Washington type of guy, though, is taking another hit. Despite his rhetoric, he was just as big, if not bigger, a crook as everybody else on capital hill.
Prove it. I'll be waiting.
Is it because he doesn't meet with lobbyists or that he returned a portion of his budget EVERY year? 141k ring a bell?
This sounds like the prostitute is guilty and the john is not.
The check was sent from a company employed by the campaign
It is all hearsay, as there has never been a check produced or a deposit totaling what has been speculated.
No one has produced this "uncashed check" or any payment records.
The only thing they have is the Paul campaign talking to the Senator and after the talks, he supported Paul.
Now Michelle Bachmann, was paying him off monthly and she is the one that blew the whistle.
Duplicate thread. But the short answer is probably not. We've got a guilty plea in the case and Ron Paul has not been indicted nor even named as unindicted co-conspirator.

Rachel Maddow showed a picture of the check ($25,000.00) which came out after the Sen. pleaded guilty.
They are eating their own. They no longer care about the American people, it's about money and elections. Once you are at the top of the political podium of America, everyone is the same. So disappointing.
Former Iowa senator, Kent Sorenson, has pleaded guilty on Wednesday to accepting a seventy three thousand dollar bribe from Ron Paul to dump Michele Bachmann in 2012. Sorenson had been Bachmann’s Iowa campaign manager. Bachmann had won the Iowa straw poll and the Paul campaign decided if you can’t win fairly, cheat. At the time Bachmann claimed that Sorenson told her he had accepted a large amount of money to abandon her.
“Kent Sorenson personally told me he was offered a large sum of money to go to work for the Paul campaign. Kent said to me yesterday that ‘Everyone sells out in Iowa, why shouldn’t I?’ Then he told me he would stay with our campaign.â€
The DOJ says the payments of eight thousand a month was concealed as payments to a film company that eventually was delivered to Sorenson and his wife: “An elected official admitted that he accepted under-the-table payments from a campaign committee to secure his support and services for a candidate in the 2012 presidential election. Campaign finance reports should be accurate and transparent, not tools for concealing campaign expenditures. Lying by public officials — whether intended to obstruct the FEC or federal investigators — violates the public trust and the law, and the Department of Justice does not tolerate it.â€
It is sad, but true: this isn't the first time and probably will not be the last, but is this a direct reflection on Paul? We will never know.
An Iowa State Sen. had to resign and plead guilty to accepting a payoff from the Ron Paul for Pres. Campaign. The Head of that campaign now works for McConnell in Kentucky.
I always felt that Paul was not a Libertarian, just another Republican.
sorry, he
How far will the GOP go?
sorry he is a full force Libertarian. Don't like him, fine, don't like the GOP, but philosophically he is Libertarian.

one key problem, at the time he was a CURRENTSENATOR. He only became a former senator when the investigation started.

LOL, you are saying he plead guilty and gave them the amount he was paid , but there is no proof ???
Ron Paul certainly is a republican and even a large number of people joined the republican party just to support him. Its good to see it come out just how corrupt and big of a scumbag Ron Paul actually is. Remember this is the guy who was willing to sacrifice millions of American lives for the free markets and the Austrian school.
