Midterm turnout was 41 percent in 2010, I expect a similar number in 2014.

I tend to agree with the 59 percent that didn't vote that it's a waste of time, especially as I have started to see how rigged the game is with the two parties. Voting for candidates in either one of those two parties is a waste of time that I could be using to analyze the weekend college football games I'm going to bet on, or look at futures of the Champions League, etc.

I'd say the sheep are the ones who flock to vote for these candidates, and the smart ones don't waste there time supporting any of them.

I voted in every election since I turned 21 (that was the age back then) and it's been MANY years since I was 21. However, to answer your post, you are wrong about who the sheep are- it is you folks that don't bother to vote thereby letting the same incompetent jerks stay in office.

If you're not part of the solution, then you are part of the problem. If you don't, at the LEAST vote, you have no say so in the matter. Get off the couch - find out what the candidates support - attend some fund raising events for them - help them to campaign - let others know of that person's desire for that office - and VOTE!

If you don't think that it matters, then YOU run for office and make a difference.

People with the 'it doesn't matter if I vote or not' attitude is what has gotten this country into the mess that it's in today.

I vote in every election and every primary but I don't always vote on everything on the ballot. For example, I don't vote on issues involving the schools.

Quit trying to demean others to try and ease your conscience.

I am. Early and often.

Actually, I haven't missed an election, no matter where I've been living, since I started voting in 1972. The last several I've been able to vote for myself. Glad I did the one time, only won by 8 votes.

Could your not voting be related to your inability to make a decision vis a vis buying a car?
