It won't happen because the Republicans have choices. The Dems are stuck with Hillary also known as Jeb's honorary sister-in-law seeing as how Bill is "the brother from another mother."
The conservative Republicans will just stay home if Jeb is the candidate handing the election to Hillary...which is why Dems are rah! rah! rah! for Bush and some of the Republican Machine is trying to sell us on Rubio.

If he thinks that a Republican is going to be able to get the lion's share of these 11 million after they complete the road to citizenship, he deserves to lose.
Our currently illegal residents are basically already committed to a liberal program to provide them with social programs.
Unless, of course, the Republicans embrace the welfare state and start making promises as well.

I think his views are more based on ethnic ties via his Mexican wife. You are correct though he's nuts if he thinks that the GOP will gain more of the Hispanic vote now or in the future by thumbing his nose at our immigration laws for them. The Democrats are already doing it plus they are already a socialistic party so what would be the difference?
So are you conceding 73% of the Latino vote forever? If so, that concludes the possibility of a GOP POTUS. It creates a 5 million vote deficit right from the start, based on 12 mill Latino voters.

His brother got the majority of the Hispanic vote when he ran.
His brother also won after their father was booted out after one term. So forget about the Bush Name being a detriment.
The Hispanic issue is all one big ball of wax. It's the 11 million who are living here and have been living here for a long time in the shadows. It's the anchor babies. It's the legal hispanics who are citizens and rapidly becoming one of the most potent voter blocks in the nation. The last Bush got a bunch of republicans on board with comprehensive immigration reform when he was president but the right wing killed it.
Jeb Bush is announcing his stance early and daring the rest of the republican field to respond. It's a deliberate strategy.
