If the symbolism whooshes right over your head, that's on you.
If there were nothing to it, why would it be objectionable to depict Obama or any member of his family as a monkey? Or are you saying it wouldn't be?
The symbolism doesn't whoosh over my head. The more I think about it, the more apt using the monkeys is, actually. Trained seals are there to entertain, trained parrots are there to entertain... trained monkeys have little money cups in their hands, specifically to obtain payment for the entertainment. Now that Cruz is shopping the cartoon around with his blustered indignation in order to raise an 'emergency' million dollars. Life is imitating art.
Nah, none of US want to be that person... however, Cruz put them out there, not US.
Cruz created a cartoon portraying his children as monkeys? That is not true and you know it.
If someone wants to profile Cruz's children and tell what grade they are in and what is their favorite color, etc., that of course would be fine. Characterizing these small Hispanic children in a clearly inflammatory and derogatory manner is the responsibility of those who did it, and now those who defend it.
Of course the Washington Post had the good grace to pull the cartoon down immediately and apologize for it, so there is no question that they share that view.
If such a cartoon had been posted with Sasha and Melia Obama portrayed as monkey's, all of you who are defending it now - ALL of you - would have called it and anyone who associated themselves with it racist, offensive and disgusting. I would have agreed.
So are it and the people who are defending it now in this case also. If you want to brand yourself a hypocrite as well, respond back to this post and deny it. You will have achieved your objective.

Great post.
This thread has proven that defenders of the cartoon care more about the Democrat Party than the feelings of little girls.

I didn't say that Cruz wrote the cartoon, and you know it.
