I know they want attention, but isn't this backfiring on them? The media tries to make them seem reasonable, but a true movement needs to win the hearts and minds of the people. It wasn't the riots in the '60s that won people over, it was the peaceful protestors getting beaten by the police or local citizens. Peaceful protests gain far more sympathy.
I would certainly think you are right. Coverage of these thugs, their mindless violence and bigotry certainly should be backfiring as far as gaining support is concerned. However, I think we're both making a mistake-we're judging them and the support they might gather based on our standards, and find them rather revolting. The supporters THEY want are the attracted to this kind of mindless violence, brutality and uncompromising bigotry. Among the people they want, they are garnering support, at least to some extent. The "Berniebots", racists and criminals are getting more violent and the mobs larger with every act, or so it seems.

Those two cases and the Eric Garner killing just make me so mad, and yet we never hear about them. Maybe it's because the injustice was so clear that the cops in question were actually convicted. But Darin Wilson was clearly using self defense.
Perhaps because a conviction actually IS justice. The system actually DOES work and the tiny percentage of cops that are either out of control or make a bad mistake are usually punished. However, I don't think that's what the bulk of the BLM movement has anything to do with. Much like the ones I mentioned above-they want to support the worst, most vile members of the black community, the violent criminals. They don't want them touched-they want the worst of the worst free and as "leaders". Not peace, not accountability, not success through work, but rather wanton violence for it's own sake (and perhap more handouts or opportunities to steal stuff). Perhap not all members of BLM (who are far from all black btw), but a great many. Especially the mindless idiots chanting "F the police" constantly. Not that this represents more than a very small percentage of black people in this country. IMO, most hard working, successful blacks consider BLM a bunch of idiots too.

Can you imagine what would happen to us if we went to Mexico and started waving American flags and protesting?
They'd freaking SHOOT us! And not feel bad about doing it.
Kick ALL Mexicans out of the country. Especially any Mexican who's loyalty is to that failed state and not to America! Send the illegals home in leg irons - they are criminals.
If YOU go to Mexico illegally YOU will be sent back here in leg irons - time for us to return the favor.
