And if you dont think Government is at least partially to blame for these wages, you're kidding yourself.
Average wage in 1984=$16,135.07

Adjusted for inflation, today that would equal $37,155.85

In 2015, average wage was $44.6K

Were $10K richer today and the unemployment rate is lower than when Reagan ran for re-election, yet Trump supporters still think Trump is going to win in a diverse electorate with a relatively stable economy

Not entirely a full picture..

If we're so much richer, then why the heck is welfare through the roof?

This. Anyone thinking a 1980-style win for Trump could occur doesn't understand how big of a factor this is. With 1980 demographics, Trump would win the election easily.

Depends on what you mean by welfare

Food stamp usage exploded after Bush expanded the program and doubled it though this was in response to the great recession

Today, unemployment insurance claims are lower than in 1984 as well

Does the economy have issues today? it does...but we are statistically better off today than we were when Reagan ran for re-election

No, I think this poll is the definition of disgraceful:

Nope.

According to Census.gov
  • 1980 - 83%
  • 2015 - 79%

BTW, Mondale ran in 1984 against Reagan.

I'm sure similar number of people would say the same thing about Trump and his Trump University scandal.

BTW, Mondale was elected in 1984.
For non-Hispanic whites, it's at least 15 percentage points lower
