Barack Obama’s wife, Michelle, is under fire for leaving the impression that she hasn’t been proud of her country until now, when Democrats are beginning to rally around her husband’s campaign.

Speaking in Milwaukee, Wis., on Monday, she said, “People in this country are ready for change and hungry for a different kind of politics and … for the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.”

Who can say that they have been proud of a country that has been under the helm of that pathetic Bush and Cheney? She's RIGHT!

WOA.. Hold up.. this has been so taken out of context by so many.. that its getting insane.

She was talking about how people have come out and voted.. she is so proud that people are getting involved in the process. Lets drop the insanity already.. sheesh.

Sorry Obama-philes, in this day and age of picking apart every word (guilty as charged), she should have known better.

You're right. If she had only said something more eloquent, yet making the same point, maybe Obama would have trounced Hillary in Wisonsin by 20 or more points, instead of the paltry and very close 13 point lead that he received. She should be ashamed.

Is anyone surprised? Just because her hubby now is getting support from the liberal media for president, she is now proud of being an American? The Obamas have been made into gods by the liberal media, so they think they are the only ones who matter. If they are not being made into Messiah-like figures in the media, they are not proud of being Americans. Pathetic, I say!

Funny that she would state she has been anti-American all these years already! Mrs. Carter... I mean Mrs. Obama doesn't have too much in the brains category, does she?

I find it odd people need to hear it said so much. Isn't it possible to love your country and be proud of its achievements , quietly ?

I hate the way politicians are almost forced to show themselves to be Christians, or show themselves to be patriotic. There is a pressure to just be on show. Unless proven otherwise I assume most people to love their Nation . Whether they word it or not.

Politics have now become all about style over substance, an exercise in pure PR. Give the crowds what they want. I find it so sad and a bit pathetic.

Wearing your heart on your sleeve is no proof of integrity or patriotism. People can lie about it.

In a way I find the quiet politicians the most appealing. Michelle Obama should say what she feels when she feels like it. And not be denigrated when she does because until then she has been quiet.

Waving flags and being loud are no sign of patriotism , just of waving flags and being loud.

She has said it twice, the first time in her adult life she's been proud of the country. She is a very sorry excuse of an American.
